What has happened to the Hero of 9/11?

Today's compilation of thoughts and readings on Rudy Giuliani
Six months ago I thought Rudy Giuliani was golden to receive the Republican Party’s nomination for President. But these days his “sunshine state” strategy has basically taken his name out of the press, and possible out of the running all together. He hasn’t campaigned in any of the first 4 primaries, and even Ron Paul, the 72-year-old Texas congressman and ob-gyn, has managed to get more electrical votes than Giuliani thus far.
I understand that he is banking on delegate-rich big states that he believes could quickly give him the numbers he needs to revive his campaign. But his top campaign advisers have now agreed to forgo their salaries to conserve money for Giuliani's gamble that he can win big in Florida on Jan. 29. Is this Presidential hopeful intentionally laying back, trying to make the rest of the Republican field over-confident? Maybe, but the longer he waits for a win, the greater the chance one of his rivals will gather enough momentum to blow him out of the race.
Maybe it’s still possible the strategy will work. There are still so many candidates on the Republican ticket, and even though Romney has achieved a couple small primary wins, there is still no clear front-runner for the nomination. IF Giuliani wins the Florida primary and IF that gains him enough momentum to get the victory on Super Tuesday, then he could possibly end up with about 600 delegates and be well on his way to securing the 1,259-delegate majority needed to win the Republican nomination.
